Nintendo had their first Nintendo Direct of the year in which they focused on releases for Spring 2015, as well as future releases.
– A New Fire Emblem game titled Fire Emblem if (in Japanese) for the 3DS has been announced. It’s being developed by Intelligent Systems with character designs by Yusuke Kozaki who also worked on Fire Emblem Awakening. The Fire Emblem series is Nintendo’s big strategy-RPG series that has captivated fans with its epic stories and lovable characters.
– The Japanese hit puzzle-RPG series Puzzle and Dragons is coming to North America. Puzzle and Dragons Z and Puzzle and Dragons: Super Mario Bros Edition will release on the 3DS. A video featuring the general gameplay was shown. Both of them come as a package deal on the eShop.
– Pokemon Shuffle on 3DS announced. It will be a free-to-play game with the same style as the Pokemon Trozei series. Microtransactions will feature in the game with a lives system. Run out of lives, and you can’t play anymore until a certain amount of time has passed.
– Wii Virtual Console is coming to the Wii U. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (available now), Punch-Out!!(January 22) and Metroid Prime Trilogy (January 29) coming on Virtual Console on Wii U. A new option to launch Wii software directly from the Wii U menu. Above 3 games are half price one week after launch.
– Kirby and the Rainbow Curse: Gameplay video shown featuring amiibo support. The game comes out on February 20.
– Amiibo Wave 3 in February.
– Wave 4 in Spring featuring Robin, Lucina, Wario, Pac-Man, Ness, and Charizard.
– Super Mario Bros. Amiibo Wave in March. This wave will have Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, and Toad.
– Mario Party 10 will launch at the same time as the Super Mario Bros. Amiibo wave. Three main modes in Mario Party 10, including a specific Amiibo mode. A bundle will launch with the console with a Mario amiibo from the Super Mario Bros. Wave. The game will launch on March 20.
– Amiibo support for Captain Toad Treasure Tracker will come in March 20.
– Splatoon: a hub world was shown with shops, other players, etc. Main weapons, sub weapons, and special weapons will feature in Splatoon for you to bring into battle. Clothes and equipment will affect gameplay. There is a May release date.
– Hyrule Warriors Majora’s Mask DLC will come out on February 5. Tingle and Young Link confirmed as the characters.
– Xenoblade Chronicles X: Video showcasing the story, art, and music. A 2015 release date was re-confirmed.
– Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars: Level creation is based on stars. Give people stars so they can make more levels. Available on both Wii U and 3DS. March 5. Buy one version and get the other one free.
– Project Treasure from Namco Bandai exclusively on Wii U. Free-to-play. No other big gameplay details were announced.
– Nintendo eShop releases featuring games like Sega Classics 3D, Gunman Clive 2, Citizens of Earth and more.
– Fossil Fighters Frontier: Gameplay video shown. March 20 release date.
– The biggest announcement of the show was for the “New” Nintendo 3DS announcement for North America. The “New” Nintendo 3DS features higher processing power, amiibo support on the touchscreen, automatic brightness adjustment, longer battery life, Micro SD support, two new shoulder buttons, a C-stick, as well as a new 3D displaying feature. Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS will be the first Amiibo-supported game on “New” Nintendo 3DS. The console releases on February 13.
– Code Name S.T.E.A.M gameplay video was shown. The game comes from Intelligent Systems, the developers of the Fire Emblem series. The game will have amiibo support with the “New” Nintendo 3DS with the Fire Emblem characters supported. Tap the amiibo to bring the characters onto your team. There will be a re-release of Marth amiibos for anyone who missed it.
– Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ on 3DS will feature amiibo support. The planes will feature custom art for the planes.
– Xenoblade Chronicles 3D exclusively on “New” 3DS with an April release date. A remake of the original game on Wii remade for the “New” Nintendo 3DS.
– Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate hardware bundle available at launch. Story and features of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate shown. Demo coming soon featuring local and online play.
– Majora’s Mask 3D: “New” Nintendo 3DS XL Majora’s Mask edition announced. A February 13 release date was given so it coincides with the launch of the “New” Nintendo 3DS.
